Title: Robust additive manufacturable Ni superalloys designed by the integrated optimization of local elemental segregation and cracking susceptibility criteria

Profile:

Yu Hao, An associate Professor at the State Key Laboratory of Digital Steel, Northeastern University. In recent years, he has focused on the computational design of high-performance alloys for aerospace additive manufacturing, including high-temperature alloys and high-strength aluminum alloys. Addressing the high-performance requirements of critical materials for core components in China’s aerospace sector, he integrates thermodynamic simulations grounded in physical metallurgy principles with artificial intelligence-driven data mining to advance the development of aerospace alloys. To date, he has established a high-throughput computational design framework for alloy development, significantly shortening the R&D cycle and reducing costs for multi-component high-temperature alloys while enhancing their performance. His research on aerospace alloys has secured multiple national-level grants, including the National Natural Science Foundation Youth Program, NSFC International Exchange Project, and sub-projects under the Ministry of Science and Technology’s Key R&D Program. He has also established technical collaborations with industry partners such as the AECC Beijing Institute of Aeronautical Materials. As first or corresponding author, he has published over 20 papers in top-tier journals including Acta Materialia, Additive Manufacturing, Journal of Materials Science & Technology, and Materials & Design.
