Title: Research on the Process and Properties of YSZ Coatings Prepared by Arc Ion Plating

Profile:

Guangyu Du, a Doctor of Engineering, is an associate professor and doctoral supervisor at the School of Mechanical Engineering and Automation, Northeastern University. He is also the secretary-general of the Vacuum Metallurgy Professional Committee and the deputy director of the Vacuum and Process Equipment Department. In recent years, he has presided over sub-projects of the National Key Research and Development Program, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and other projects. He has also participated in the National Defense 973 Program, the Major Instrument Project, the National Natural Science Foundation of China, and many other provincial and ministerial-level projects.

Abstract:

Thermal barrier coatings are important functional coatings on the surface of aero-engine blades, and enhancing the properties and lifetime of thermal barrier coatings has been a research priority in the field.  The coatings deposited by arc ion plating (AIP) are characterized by a dense structure, and the YSZ prepared by AIP theoretically has better antioxidant properties. However, at present, this preparation method is limited by the problems of “target poisoning”, low efficiency, and so on, there are fewer research reports related to it, and the thickness of the prepared TC cannot reach the industry standard. In this paper, we optimize the arc ion plating process and adopt double-layer TC to discuss the feasibility of improve the coating thickness and performance.
