Profile:
Jin Jie is an Associate Researcher at the National Key Laboratory of Interface Science and Technology for Advanced Equipment, Tsinghua University. He holds prominent roles within key technical societies, serving as a member of the Electron Beam and Ion Beam Professional Committee of the China Electrotechnical Society, and the Surface Engineering Branch and Tribology Branch of the China Mechanical Engineering Society, and as a Senior Member of the Mechanical Engineering Society.
His research is deeply rooted in the practical application of ion beam technology to manipulate the surface and interface properties of advanced equipment. He specializes in tribology under extreme conditions and the development of specialized equipment technologies, addressing critical challenges in material performance and component reliability.
Jin Jie has demonstrated significant leadership and collaboration in applied research, leading or participating in over 20 national projects, including prestigious initiatives like the National Key Research and Development Program, the 173 Project, and the National Natural Science Foundation of China. The tangible impact of his work is evident in its application across high-stakes industries—spanning aerospace, shipbuilding, defense, and robotics—enhancing the performance and durability of critical components.
His contributions to the field are substantial and well-documented, including authoring over 30 peer-reviewed publications, a foundational textbook, and co-authoring a research monograph. He holds over 20 national invention patents, reflecting his innovative approach to engineering solutions. Furthermore, his expertise has contributed to the standardization of the industry through his participation in formulating standards for ion implantation and coating testing and evaluation. His technical achievements have been recognized with eight provincial and ministerial-level awards.
