Title: Improving Hardness & Toughness of Hard Ceramic Coatings and Their Dislocation-Related Deformation Mechanisms

Profile:

Dr. Shenghao Zhou received his BS and PhD degree in Materials Science from South China University of Technology in 2013 and 2021 respectively. He did postdoctoral research at Ningbo Institute of Materials Science & Engineering, CAS from 2021 to 2024. His research interests include preparation using PVD techniques, nanostructure manipulation for hardening-toughening and exploring new deformation mechanisms to understand origin of hardness and toughness of hard-yet-tough ceramic and metallic coatings for surface protection. He has 17 publications, including 8 first-authored papers on Journal of Materials Science & Technology, Rare Metals, Scripta Materialia and etc. Currently, he serves as Guest Editor for Special Issue “Advances in Surface Coatings for Wear and Corrosion Protection” of Coatings.
