Resume

Baodan Liu is a professor in Material Science and the group leader at Foshan Graduate School of Innovation, Northeastern University. He got his PhD degree from University of Tsukuba (Japan) in 2006 and then joined Furukawa Co., Ltd as a senior research staff. Later he worked at NIMS, Japan as a postdoc and a professor at Institute of Metal Research (IMR), Chinese Academy of Science (CAS) for 10 years. In 2020, he moved to Northeastern University and established the lab of Surface Function of Light Alloys based on plasma electrolytic oxidation (PEO) technology. He holds 42 patents including 4 Japanese and 2 European patents,  authored / coauthored more than 170 SCI papers and presented 60+ talks in conferences. Now his research interests mainly focus on the development of functional microarc oxidation ceramic coatings and their applications in wear resistance, anti-corrosion, electrical insulation, anti-bacteria and surface coloring of light alloys.
